French health authorities announced the nation’s first Ebola case in France on Tuesday, confirming that a 45‑year‑old physician who had just returned from a humanitarian stint in the Democratic Republic of the Congo tested positive for the virus.

The patient was moved under strict bio‑security to a specialised centre in Paris, where he remains in stable condition. All precautionary measures – including immediate isolation and secured transport – were enacted to avert any spillover.

Contact Tracing and Isolation Protocols

Health officials have begun tracing over 30 contacts, prioritising family members and fellow aid workers. The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control estimates the public‑health risk at ↓ 0.2%, a figure deemed negligible.

“Our teams are operating around the clock to ensure no secondary transmission occurs,” the ministry said.

Further details are being compiled in coordination with the World Health Organization and reported by Reuters. The situation remains under close surveillance.
