U.S.-Iran Deal Framework Emerges

U.S. officials told Reuters that Tehran has ↑ 48‑hour window to answer a one‑page, 14‑point memorandum that could halt the two‑month war launched on Feb. 28. The draft calls for Iran to lift Hormuz restrictions while Washington ends its naval blockade imposed on April 13, a move that would free ↓ $2bn frozen assets for Tehran.

Key concessions on the table

Iran would agree to a moratorium on uranium enrichment, a core nuclear issue that sparked the conflict, and allow snap UN inspections. In return, the United States would drop the majority of sanctions and restore revenue streams from oil shipments.

“We’ve had very good talks over the last 24 hours, and a deal is very possible,” President Trump said to reporters, pausing the Project Freedom operation.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, speaking with his Iranian counterpart, urged the swift reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, while a parallel cease‑fire between Israel and Lebanon hangs in the balance. Bloomberg notes that any breach could reignite naval skirmishes.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio cautioned that the agreement need not be signed overnight, but the diplomatic roadmap must be clear on concessions. Tehran’s foreign ministry, however, has publicly dismissed several U.S. demands, labeling the draft “more of an American wish list than reality.”
