Iran Drone Attack Bahrain

In a swift retaliation for Thursday’s U.S. airstrikes, Iran unleashed a swarm of armed drones that struck a strategic site in Bahrain, the home of the U.S. 5th Fleet, and a commercial vessel navigating the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday.

Bahrain’s foreign ministry denounced the “flagrant threat to the safety of citizens and residents,” while Tehran’s Revolutionary Guard claimed it targeted “U.S. terrorist army” positions, though it did not disclose exact coordinates.

The United States responded with precision strikes on Iranian missile depots and coastal radars, a move echoed by Reuters as part of a broader campaign to enforce the fragile cease‑fire.

“Violence will be met with violence,” U.S. Vice President JD Vance warned on social media, urging Tehran to “pick up the phone.”

Negotiators have less than ↓ 60 days to hammer out a permanent accord covering vessel passage and the fate of Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpile.

Concurrently, the U.K.-run United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations centre reported a tanker hit in the strait; crew survived and no spill was detected. The Joint Maritime Information Center, overseen by the U.S. Navy, announced an expansion of a navigation corridor along Oman’s coast, a step that could create a new flashpoint as Tehran threatens to levy transit fees.

Iranian parliamentarian Ebrahim Azizi reiterated that “the Strait of Hormuz is governed by Iran, so: Respect the rules,” a stance rebuffed by Gulf states and the U.S., which maintain the waterway’s status as an international passage.

Maritime analysts warn that mines remain a serious hazard and that naval clearance operations are ongoing, keeping commercial traffic on edge.
