U.S. missile defense in Israel’s shield

Pentagon assessments released this week reveal that the United States expended ↓ 45 advanced interceptors to protect Israeli airspace, dwarfing the ↓ 12 used by Israel’s own Iron Dome during the latest Iran‑linked flare‑up.

The surge came as Iranian proxies intensified rocket launches, forcing Washington to activate the Patriot and THAAD batteries stationed in the region. Reuters confirmed that the U.S. share of interceptions rose to over 80% of total engagements.

“Our commitment to Israel’s security is absolute, and the data speaks for itself,” a senior Pentagon official told reporters.

Analysts warn that the heavy reliance on American firepower could strain logistics and elevate the risk of escalation. For a broader view, see AP News coverage of the ongoing Middle East tensions.
