Iranian Cyber Operatives Wipe Medical Tech Giant Stryker Amid Escalating Global Tensions

A cyber offensive attributed to Iranian state-linked operatives has crippled Stryker Corporation, one of the world’s largest medical device manufacturers, triggering operational paralysis across 79 countries and exposing critical vulnerabilities in global healthcare supply chains.

Stryker’s Cork headquarters sent 5,000 employees home as systems went dark. The company’s Michigan headquarters broadcast a terse voicemail: “We are currently experiencing a building emergency.” Multiple sources confirm that connected devices were remotely wiped using Microsoft Intune, with login screens defaced by the Handala logo.

The attackers claim responsibility for erasing data from over 200,000 systems, servers, and mobile devices. “All acquired data is now in the hands of the free people of the world,” the group stated, framing the attack as retaliation for a February 28 missile strike that killed 175 people, mostly children, in Iran.

Cybersecurity analysts trace Handala’s operations to Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security. The group previously targeted Israeli infrastructure and recently expanded operations to include fuel systems in Jordan and an Israeli energy exploration company.

Healthcare systems across the United States report immediate disruptions. One major university medical center cannot order surgical supplies normally sourced through Stryker. “This is a real-world supply chain attack,” said an anonymous healthcare professional. “Pretty much every hospital in the U.S. that performs surgeries uses their supplies.”

Maryland’s Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems reported that hospitals have disconnected from Stryker’s LifeNet service, which transmits EKGs for heart attack patients.
