The MV Hondius, a virus-hit cruise ship sailing off the Atlantic, has become a floating disaster zone after an onboard outbreak claimed ↓ 3 lives and left dozens ill.

Virus-Hit Cruise Ship Evacuation Accelerates

Spanish authorities organized the first airlift, ferrying their citizens to mainland safety, while neighboring governments scrambled to deploy military transport for their own nationals.

Air transport assets from at least three countries are now positioned at the nearest port, ready to shuttle passengers under tight quarantine protocols.

“Our priority is to repatriate every affected citizen while containing the virus,” said a spokesperson for the European Health Agency.

Details remain fluid, but Reuters reports that health officials are evaluating the ship’s containment measures before the next wave of flights.
