Washington, D.C. — In response to the WHO’s declaration of an international health emergency, the United States has tightened Ebola precautions across its borders.

Ebola precautions intensify for travelers

Beginning Monday, the CDC will screen all passengers arriving from the Democratic Republic of Congo, deploying thermal scanners and mandatory questionnaires. Airlines are instructed to report any febrile individuals within ↓ 48 hours of arrival. Visa services at the State Department are temporarily suspended, a move officials say will curb potential exposure.

“Our priority is to protect American citizens while supporting global containment efforts,” a senior health official told Reuters.

The measures echo steps taken during the recent pandemic, reflecting lessons learned about rapid response. Health authorities warn that without swift action, case numbers could climb beyond the ↓ 2,000 reported in the DRC, threatening regional stability.
