Typhoon Saudel unleashed relentless downpours across Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian and Guangdong last week, prompting the largest evacuation effort in the region this year. In Fujian’s Putian, rainfall peaked at 416.5mm within 24 hours, while neighboring villages reported over 500mm. “The situation remains fluid; we are coordinating with local governments to ensure safe shelter for all displaced families,” a spokesperson for the Ministry of Emergency Management told Reuters.
