President Donald Trump, ↑ 79 years old, spent more than three hours at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for a preventive medical and dental check‑up, his fourth publicly disclosed examination since returning to the White House.

Trump medical exam: results and political stakes

In a post‑visit tweet the former president boasted that he had just completed his “6‑month physical” and that “Everything checked out PERFECTLY.”

“I feel great – better than ever,” Trump wrote.

The White House released a terse statement, calling the president “the sharpest and most accessible” leader in history and insisting his health is “excellent.” No detailed findings have been made public, prompting renewed calls for transparency.

Historical precedent shows presidential physicals are filtered through the Executive Office; the data released are often selective. Dr. Jeffrey Kuhlman, a former White House physician, told reporters that advanced cardiac testing, cancer screening, and cognitive assessment are standard for a leader of Trump’s age.

A recent Reuters poll found that ↓ 48% of American adults doubt the president’s mental sharpness or physical stamina to serve effectively.

Unlike a legal requirement, disclosure of a president’s medical records rests on personal choice. Bioethicist Sara Rosenthal of the University of Kentucky argues that “nothing should be hidden” and suggests an independent medical board to audit the health of the commander‑in‑chief and successors.

Trump’s previous reports have noted chronic venous insufficiency, causing mild swelling in his lower legs, and a perfect 30‑out‑of‑30 score on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment in 2018 and 2025. Critics point to his occasional drowsiness in meetings and the need to “step carefully” off Air Force One as possible red flags.

Amid the backdrop of a lingering pandemic, the president’s stamina and age remain focal points as the midterm elections approach, testing his influence over the Republican base.
