Moroccan police arrest operation stalls mass crossing into Ceuta

Social media calls for a coordinated surge resurfaced, prompting heightened vigilance on both sides of the frontier. The failed incursion follows a massive influx two weeks earlier that saw more than 72,000 arrivals, a humanitarian shock that rippled through the EU.

“We will not allow a repeat of last month’s tragedy,” said a senior Moroccan police spokesperson.

Authorities report that at least ↓ 96 migrants have died trying to reach European soil since the latest wave began. Security cameras captured several boats turning back under police pressure.

European leaders, already grappling with the fallout from the pandemic, face renewed pressure from far‑right factions demanding stricter border policies.
