Apple analysts warn that iPhone 17 prices could climb as early as June, after CEO Tim Cook told the Wall Street Journal that memory and storage cost pressures are “unavoidable.”

iPhone 17 Prices Face Immediate Hike

Cook compared the current memory shortage to a “hundred‑year flood,” saying,

“I’ve never seen anything like it in any area in over 40 years,”

and hinted that the company can no longer absorb the expense. Supply constraints across the semiconductor sector, driven by AI‑focused data‑center builds, are forcing rivals such as Samsung and Microsoft to lift their retail tags, and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman predicts Apple will follow suit Bloomberg. The upcoming Back‑to‑School promotion, traditionally announced around WWDC, may be used as a pricing buffer, according to Gurman.

Potential Impact on the Lineup

Current list prices stand at $599 for the iPhone 17e, $799 for the base iPhone 17, $999 for the iPhone Air, $1,099 for the iPhone 17 Pro and $1,199 for the Pro Max, with analysts speculating a ↑ $100 bump on premium models. The Wall Street Journal projects the next‑generation iPhone 18 Pro could start near $1,399. Reuters notes that similar upward pressure is already evident on iPad and Mac pricing.
