Ken Griffin’s hedge‑fund empire announced the largest cohort of Citadel interns in its history: 350 newcomers will spend 11 weeks rotating between quantitative research, engineering and trading desks. The program opened with an off‑site in Palm Beach, Florida, where Citadel Securities will host the final week.

Application volume surged ↑ 6.4% to 115,900 submissions from 90 universities worldwide, yet only ↓ 0.36% of candidates secured a place.

“We have an almost insatiable appetite for exceptional talent,” said Fabian Figi, head of recruiting at Citadel Securities.

Interns receive a base salary ranging from $4,300 to $5,800 per week, a signing bonus, and a $15,000 housing stipend or corporate housing option. Throughout the stint they are paired with mentors, attend weekly one‑on‑ones, and present a capstone project to senior leaders.

According to Reuters, past cohorts see a conversion rate of over 50% into full‑time offers, and campus hires are twice as likely to become top performers.

The surge comes as the broader pandemic era reshapes entry‑level hiring, with many firms scaling back while a few, like IBM and Reddit, double down on junior talent.
