Apple is set to embed a suite of Apple Intelligence photo editing capabilities into the Photos app across iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27, according to Bloomberg. The new

appear under a dedicated Apple Intelligence Tools panel and promise three core actions: Extend, Enhance and Reframe.

Extend uses on‑device generative AI to fabricate background scenery when users enlarge a crop, while Enhance automatically balances colour, exposure and contrast. Reframe targets spatial photos, allowing post‑capture perspective shifts.

“The real test will be how seamless these edits feel on a device without cloud assistance,” an industry analyst noted.

Apple’s earlier Clean Up feature—still prone to artifacts compared with rivals such as Samsung and Google—suggests the new tools may launch with limited functionality; Bloomberg hints that Extend and Reframe could be delayed or scaled back.

Apple plans a live demonstration at WWDC 2026 on ↑June 8, 2026, with Reuters reporting a rollout to more than ↑1 billion active devices worldwide.
