iOS 27 Safari features arrive as part of Apple’s most ambitious browser overhaul in years, injecting Apple Intelligence into everyday browsing.

Automatic Tab Organization

Safari now clusters open tabs into AI‑derived topics, so a couch‑shopping session sits beside a weekend‑trip itinerary without manual sorting. Enable it via the three‑line icon in tab view and toggle Automatically Create Topics. The same menu lets you filter groups, opening only the relevant set while hiding the rest.

Resume Browsing and Cross‑Device Sync

A new “Resume Browsing” pane on the Start Page surfaces recently closed topics and tabs active on other devices, streamlining the handoff between iPhone and Mac.

“The browser finally thinks like a human,” said a senior Apple engineer, Reuters.

AI‑Powered Custom Extensions

Developers and power users can summon an extension with a single prompt in the Safari settings’ “Create an Extension” panel. Suggested categories include Boost Productivity, Improve Focus, Get Creative and Develop & Design. Sample commands range from “Create a citation for this page” to “Turn the page into pirate speak.”

Because the engine runs on Apple Intelligence, it is limited to iPhone 15 Pro and later models.

Notify Me Alerts

Set Safari to watch a product page or ticket site and receive a push when the content changes. Frequency options span daily, weekly or monthly checks, with the earliest slot at ↑ 1 am local time.

Password Auto‑Update

The Passwords app can now auto‑replace weak or compromised credentials directly from Safari, going to the login page and swapping in a generated strong password with a single tap.

Ask to Browse for Parents

New parental controls require a guardian’s approval before a child can visit an unlisted URL, reinforcing safe‑surfing habits.

Performance Gains

Apple claims lower power draw, faster JavaScript execution and smoother animations, meaning the browser feels snappier while sipping less battery.

The rollout is still in beta, slated for a Bloomberg-covered fall 2026 launch alongside the next iPhone generation. The post‑pandemic boom in mobile commerce makes these upgrades especially timely.
