A recent African Youth Survey reveals that USAID cuts could be viewed as an opportunity by a quarter of respondents aged 18‑24, who argue that losing foreign money will force leaders to solve home‑grown problems.

In Ghana and Nigeria, nearly half of the cohort expressed optimism, with ↑ 41% in Ghana and ↑ 40% in Nigeria indicating a positive outlook; Liberia follows at 37%.

Eleven percent remain unsure about the ramifications.

“Aid reduction may compel governments to innovate rather than depend,” a respondent noted.
