Ebola plan unveiled by WHO and Africa CDC

In a coordinated effort, the World Health Organization and Africa Centres for Disease Control disclosed a €518 million ↑ $518m Ebola plan aimed at halting the virus that has spilled over from the Democratic Republic of Congo into Uganda.

Uganda’s health ministry confirmed three additional cases and one more fatality, pushing the death count to ↓ 1 death since the outbreak began, according to Reuters. The surge underscores lingering vulnerabilities reminiscent of the recent pandemic era.

Key components of the initiative include accelerated vaccine deployment, cross‑border surveillance, and emergency funding streams to bolster laboratory capacity. Officials warn that any delay could exacerbate transmission, especially in densely populated districts.

“The window to contain Ebola is narrowing; decisive action is non‑negotiable,” said a senior WHO spokesperson.
