TI-84 Evo: specs and pricing

The TI-84 Evo arrives as Texas Instruments’ answer to a generation that craves speed without distraction. Powered by a processor that is ↑ 3× faster than its predecessor, the new calculator also expands graphing memory by ↑ 50%, giving students room to plot richer functions.

Unlike app‑based calculators on smartphones, the Evo runs on a sealed, Wi‑Fi‑free platform that blocks notifications and social feeds, positioning itself as the “Light Phone” of math tools. The device sports a refreshed icon‑driven home screen, a simplified keypad, and USB‑C charging for quick top‑ups.

“A dedicated device keeps focus on problem‑solving, not on scrolling,” a TI spokesperson told Reuters.

Pricing is set at $160 for individual buyers, with bulk discounts available for districts. Color options now include mint, pink, purple, teal, raspberry and silver, expanding beyond the classic white.

Educators note that the rollout coincides with broader budget debates, from classroom tech to nuclear infrastructure funding, highlighting how resource allocation decisions ripple across sectors.
