The accompanying GLM Coding Plan starts at ↑ $16.20 per month for the Lite tier and tops out at ↑ $144 for Max, well below Anthropic’s Claude Code rates.

“ZCode feels like a fully autonomous coding partner,” a beta tester told Reuters.

GLM‑5.2 is a 744‑billion‑parameter mixture‑of‑experts model with a one‑million‑token context window, trained on Huawei silicon. It placed second on Code Arena in June, just behind Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5.

Geopolitical backdrop

The launch follows a U.S. export ban on Anthropic’s top models that left many enterprises scrambling for alternatives, echoing concerns raised during the recent pandemic supply shocks.

Z.ai’s market value jumped ↑ 42% to HK$1 trillion after the announcement, and analysts at JPMorgan raised their 2026‑2030 revenue outlook by up to 16%.

While ZCode is not open source, the underlying GLM‑5.2 weights are MIT‑licensed on Hugging Face, allowing firms to self‑host and sidestep export‑control risks.
