Uganda Ebola cases confirmed in Kampala

Uganda health officials announced on Saturday the confirmation of three ↓ 3 new Ebola cases, all traced to cross‑border exposure from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The World Health Organization has upgraded the regional threat level to the maximum alert, warning that the outbreak could intensify as mobility between the two nations remains high.

Link to the Congo flare‑up

According to Reuters, the DRC is battling a surge of infections that has already claimed over ↓ 1,200 lives since the latest wave began. Ugandan authorities have sealed borders in the affected districts and mobilised rapid‑response teams to contain the spread.

“We are treating patients in isolation units and reinforcing surveillance at points of entry,” said Dr. Jane Aceng, Uganda’s Minister of Health.

Neighbors are urged to monitor symptoms and report fevers promptly, as the region grapples with limited vaccine supplies and strained health infrastructure.
