U.S. No Help Iran War Fallout Sparks Thai Diplomatic Shift

Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow told Reuters that “this war should never have happened,” and warned that Washington’s silence leaves Bangkok scrambling for alternatives.

“The United States offers no assistance with the fallout of the Iran war,” the minister said.

Amid a severe economic crunch, Thailand is courting Moscow and Beijing, hoping to plug the ↓ 6.2% contraction in its GDP.

Strategic Realignment Under Pressure

The pivot reflects a broader trend in Southeast Asia, where nations reassess security ties after Western sanctions tighten around Iran. Analysts cite the move as a hedge against a growing geopolitical vacuum in the region.
