Trump media company Crypto.com deal terminated

The Trump Organization’s media arm announced it will unwind its agreement with Crypto.com, scrapping plans for a multibillion‑dollar CRO treasury and abandoning any prospect of embedding prediction markets on Truth Social.

Sources close to the deal say the move reflects mounting regulatory pressure and a reassessment of the financial upside. The original pact promised a ↓ $2.5 bn treasury fund that would have powered a suite of crypto‑centric services.

“The partnership no longer aligns with our core business trajectory,” a spokesperson told Reuters.

Analysts at Bloomberg note the termination may signal broader caution among legacy media entities eyeing crypto ventures, especially as U.S. regulators tighten oversight.

Implications for Truth Social and the crypto sector

Without the Crypto.com infusion, Truth Social will likely postpone any rollout of betting‑style features, a move that could dampen user growth projections. The fallout also leaves Crypto.com seeking alternative media allies to sustain its expansion agenda.
