In a sprawling Axios interview, Donald Trump declared his “Trump limitless power” stance after the Iran confrontation, arguing no ceiling exists on his authority. The 45‑minute conversation with host Marc Caputo turned into a self‑portrait of a ruler, with the former president rattling off names from Attila to Stalin as benchmarks he allegedly eclipses.

Trump limitless power narrative fuels historic self‑comparison

He boasted that G7 leaders “know I’m the boss” and that Israel “does as I say,” while praising China’s Xi Jinping and India’s Narendra Modi as “tough cookies.” A forthcoming New York Times exposé, “Regime Change,” cites a private memo that pits Trump against Alexander the Great, Napoleon and even Adolf Hitler, noting “they didn’t have airplanes, right?”

“If it weren’t for me, Israel would not exist today,” Trump told Axios.

The memo’s author, described as a “presidential historian,” was later identified as a longtime golf caddy, raising questions about its credibility. Critics point to the Reuters analysis that the Iran deal, while imperfect, averted a potential ↓ worldwide recession and helped the stock market climb ↑ 2%. Trump dismissed hard‑liners in his own party as “no longer respected,” and lamented Vladimir Putin’s absence from the G7, framing it as a loss of real power. He also invoked the pandemic era to argue that economic stability remains the only true check on his ambitions.
