Trump Iran war pressure

President Donald Trump told supporters on Monday that he feels no pressure to conclude the war he launched against Iran, even as the 14‑day cease‑fire nears its Wednesday expiry. He warned that bombs could start falling if a deal is not struck, yet insisted a second round of negotiations in Islamabad is still on the table.

Vice President JD Vance is slated to lead the U.S. team to Pakistan, despite Tehran’s refusal to sit down until Washington eases its demands. Iran’s chief negotiator Mohammed Bagher Qalibaf posted on X, accusing the United States of demanding surrender and vowing to reveal new battlefield cards.

“I am under no pressure whatsoever, although it will all happen, relatively quickly!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Pakistani officials are preparing for fresh talks while the Strait of Hormuz remains volatile. After a U.S. Navy seizure of an Iranian vessel on Sunday, Iran halted traffic, claiming the cease‑fire was breached. Reuters reported the incident as a flashpoint that could push oil prices to ↑ 95 dollars a barrel, up from ↓ 70 before the conflict.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi dismissed the U.S. blockade as incompatible with diplomacy, while refusing to reveal whether Tehran will re‑engage in talks after the cease‑fire lapses. The latest U.S. proposals, according to Tehran, still leave a wide gap on nuclear issues, regional proxies and maritime security.

Domestically, Trump rebuked critics urging a swift settlement, saying Democrats and some Republicans are “asking to settle it now” while Iran is “in a perfect position, including being militarily defeated.” He also told PBS that gas prices would “come roaring down” if the war ends.

In parallel, historic Israel‑Lebanon negotiations resumed in Washington, aiming to curb Hezbollah activity. Meanwhile, Iranian officials released a death toll exceeding 3,300, including 383 children.
