Trump changes Washington: From Ballrooms to Arch

During his second term, the former president has reshaped the capital’s skyline with projects that range from a luxurious ↑ $400 million ballroom near Dulles to a proposed ↓ 250‑foot triumphal arch dubbed the “Arc de Trump.”

Critics argue the expenditures divert resources from infrastructure upgrades that were postponed after the pandemic. Reuters reported that the arch’s projected cost could exceed half a billion dollars.

“What we’re seeing is a vanity project that ignores the city’s pressing needs,” a local council member warned.

Supporters claim the structures will boost tourism and create jobs, echoing promises made in the 2024 campaign. The Washington Post noted that similar initiatives in past administrations yielded mixed economic returns.
