Pentagon’s Billion-Dollar Defense Is Losing to $20,000 Iranian Drones

The U.S. military’s reliance on billion-dollar air defense systems is proving unsustainable against swarms of cheap Iranian drones in the Middle East, forcing Washington to seek help from Ukraine’s battlefield-tested strategies. President Donald Trump’s policies have inadvertently exposed a critical vulnerability: traditional heavy systems like Patriot missiles costing $4 million per shot are being overwhelmed by mass-produced, autonomous drones that cost as little as $20,000.
