Peace with Iran Stalls as Nuclear Compromise Remains Out of Reach

The United States and Tehran sit on opposite ends of a widening chasm, and a genuine nuclear compromise appears farther than ever. Diplomatic channels are straining under the weight of divergent timelines.

Why the nuclear compromise stalls

Washington demands a moratorium of ↑ 20 years on uranium enrichment, a figure Tehran deems unacceptable. Tehran counters with a ceiling of ↓ 5 years, a proposal that barely scratches the surface of U.S. expectations.

“Both sides are entrenched; any movement will require concessions that neither is prepared to make,” a senior negotiator told Reuters.

Analysts at Bloomberg warn that the growing disparity could trigger a new round of sanctions or push Tehran toward clandestine pathways.
