The London Crown Court sentenced four members of the now‑banned Palestine Action group on Thursday, marking the first convictions of Palestine Action activists convicted for a raid on Israeli defence contractor Elbit Systems’ Bristol facility.

The activists, who entered the site in October 2023 amid escalating hostilities in Gaza, were found guilty of burglary, criminal damage and conspiracy. Prosecutors argued the intrusion was a political act intended to disrupt arms production.

“The court sent a clear message that illegal entry into a private enterprise, regardless of political motives, will not be tolerated,” a spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice told Reuters.

The defendants received sentences ranging from ↓ 4 to 12 months in prison, followed by a period of supervised release. Their convictions come as Britain tightens enforcement against groups linked to foreign conflicts, a move some civil‑rights advocates label as over‑reach.

Analysts note that the case may influence future legal actions against protest groups targeting the nuclear supply chain.

Correction: An earlier dispatch misstated the sentencing date.
