IDC now predicts global PC shipments will fall ↓ 11.3% in 2026, with a sharper Q4 drop of 20% YoY. Average selling prices are set to climb ↑ 17% as memory scarcity drives costs higher.

“The MacBook Neo is putting real pressure on the entire PC ecosystem,” IDC analysts said.

Manufacturers are scrambling for new silicon and more efficient operating systems, while Microsoft is expected to accelerate Windows optimizations. Reuters and Bloomberg report that the memory crunch has already throttled supply of higher‑end Mac mini and Mac Studio units.

For now, the Neo keeps a slice of the 75 million‑unit annual sub‑$700 segment alive, offsetting some price pressure but not reversing the overall upward pricing trend.
