Iran’s latest proposal surfaced in Tehran last week, offering limited concessions on its nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief. Washington, however, labeled the draft incomplete, arguing it fails to cap enrichment beyond ↓ 3.5% and does not halt advanced centrifuge work.

Iran’s latest proposal: What Washington demands

The U.S. insists on a verifiable freeze on enrichment and a step‑by‑step dismantling of breakout capacity. In a briefing, senior officials cited Reuters for the exact language used by the State Department.

US response under Trump

Senior administration members signaled a firm rejection, warning that any agreement lacking full compliance would be void.

“We cannot accept a deal that leaves the nuclear option open,” a spokesperson told reporters.

The stance threatens to deepen economic pressure, potentially slashing Iranian oil exports by ↓ $2 billion annually, according to Bloomberg. Analysts fear the impasse could ripple across the region, emboldening rival powers.
