Iran regime strategy is being reshaped as the protracted war in the region drags on, according to Mehran Kamrave, director of the Iranian Studies Unit at the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies.

Iran regime strategy under pressure

The regime leans on three levers: U.S. sanctions that have throttled oil revenue (↓ 30%), a contentious nuclear programme (Bloomberg), and the strategic choke point of the Strait of Hormuz.

“The longer the conflict persists, the more the Islamic Republic consolidates its domestic base,” Kamrave told France 24.

Despite the external turmoil, the government is tightening surveillance and curbing dissent, a move that paradoxically boosts its legitimacy at home.

Analysts warn that as the war endures, popular resentment may wane, reshaping regional calculations (Reuters).
