Supply‑chain analyst Ming‑Chi Kuo posted on X that the base iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e will ship with 9GB of RAM, a modest bump from the 8GB found in the previous generation. The extra gigabyte is meant to keep Apple Intelligence features fluid, but the upcoming iOS 27 suite reserves two flagship capabilities – customizable Siri voice dynamics and a marked leap in speech‑to‑text accuracy – for devices with at least 12GB of RAM. Consequently, the lower‑tier models will miss those upgrades.

“The 1GB increase ensures Apple Intelligence runs smoothly on these devices,” Kuo wrote.

Higher‑end variants – the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max and the foldable iPhone Ultra – retain the legacy 12GB memory pool, matching the iPhone 17 Pro line.
