The latest episode of The MacRumors Show dissected Apple’s roadmap, and the headline change – the iPad mini OLED – dominates the conversation.

iPad mini OLED: display and design overhaul

Apple is slated to replace the current LCD with a single‑stack LTPS OLED panel, nudging the diagonal from 8.3″ to roughly 8.7″. ProMotion remains a rumor, but the shift alone promises richer contrast and deeper blacks. A water‑resistant chassis with an IP rating would mark a first for the mini line, thanks to a vibration‑driven speaker that removes conventional speaker apertures.

Chipset speculation

Conflicting leaks point to either the A19 Pro or the unreleased A20 Pro, with the N1 and C1X neural engines likely onboard. The exact silicon package remains unconfirmed.

“The upgrade package is enough to justify a price bump,” Mark Gurman told Bloomberg.

Pricing could climb ↑ $100 to about $599, according to leaker “Instant Digital,” with a launch window no earlier than H2 2026.

iPad Air OLED and beyond

Early 2027 may bring an iPad Air with a similar OLED panel sourced from Samsung, paired with the M5 chip and a slimmer silhouette reminiscent of the mini’s redesign. Six years after its last refresh, the Air could finally close the gap with the Pro.

The next iPad Pro, expected in spring 2027, is rumored to feature the M6 processor and a vapor‑chamber cooling system borrowed from the iPhone 17 Pro, though its exterior is likely to stay unchanged.

Long‑term, Apple’s foldable iPad – an 18‑inch concept – may not appear until 2029, with a projected price near ↓ $3,900, according to Reuters. If realized, it would redefine the tablet market.
