iOS 27 features: Siri app gets a dedicated home

Apple is slated to unveil iOS 27 at WWDC 2026 on June 8, and the beta rollout is expected to begin immediately after the keynote, with a public preview in July and a full release in September. The new Siri app will let users converse via text or voice, revisit past interactions, and integrate with the Dynamic Island, where a glowing cursor signals the “Search or Ask” prompt.

“We look forward to bringing a more personalized Siri to users this year,” Tim Cook said on an earnings call.

Satellite connectivity takes a leap

iOS 27 is rumored to enable 5G satellite internet, initially limited to the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max and Ultra models equipped with the next‑gen C2 modem, potentially boosting coverage by ↑30%. Additional satellite capabilities may include Maps overlay, photo sharing via Messages, third‑party app integration and an auto‑pointing antenna that works without a clear sky view. Amazon’s recent acquisition of Globalstar could streamline these services, as reported by Reuters.

Polish under the hood: a Snow Leopard‑style refresh

Analysts expect Apple to focus on stability, bug eradication and incremental performance gains, echoing the Mac OS X Snow Leopard era. A system‑wide Liquid Glass opacity slider may appear, mirroring the existing lock‑screen clock control.

AI‑driven visual intelligence

Four new Apple Intelligence tools could debut on iPhone 15 Pro and newer: automatic nutrition label scanning for Health, business‑card data capture for Contacts, ticket digitisation in Wallet, and auto‑naming of Safari tab groups. The Photos app might also gain three AI‑enhanced editing options.

Keyboard, undo/redo and compatibility

An upgraded keyboard offering smarter autocorrect suggestions, akin to Grammarly, is on the table, as is an Undo/Redo toggle for Home Screen layout changes. iOS 27 will support the iPhone 12 series onward, dropping the iPhone 11 line and SE (2nd gen), a shift that could affect roughly ↓15% of the installed base. Compatibility will extend through the iPhone 17 series, including the new Air and e variants. For deeper insight, see Bloomberg.
