Security firm runZero has disclosed ↓ 7 critical FatFs vulnerabilities that affect the ubiquitous FAT/exFAT file‑system library embedded in millions of IoT gadgets.

FatFs vulnerabilities threaten IoT ecosystem

From surveillance cameras to autonomous drones, the library resides in firmware that powers security cameras, industrial controllers, hardware crypto wallets and countless other devices.

“The breadth of exposure is staggering; any unpatched unit could become a foothold for attackers,” said a senior analyst at Reuters.

Manufacturers face a race against time to ship patches before threat actors weaponize the flaws. The situation echoes the scramble seen during the recent pandemic when supply‑chain weaknesses were exposed.
