Estonia film industry aims for triple growth by 2029

At Cannes, officials unveiled a plan to expand the Estonia film industry threefold within five years, anchored by two state‑of‑the‑art sound stages currently under construction. The ↑ 3x target positions Tallinn as a full‑service hub for European and Hollywood productions, promising tax incentives and streamlined permits.

Minister of Culture Urve Palo said,

“We are building infrastructure that matches the ambitions of global studios.”

The project, financed through a public‑private partnership, expects to generate €150 million in ancillary revenue, according to a Reuters analysis.

Industry observers note that the move mirrors France’s recent studio boom, as reported by Bloomberg. If successful, the initiative could lift Estonia’s share of international productions from under 1% to a competitive tier within the EU.
