Ebola monitoring London hospital: humanitarian worker under observation

A UK national who was treating patients amid the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo was airlifted to the United Kingdom last week. Medical officials say the individual is now in isolation at a specialist facility in London, where Ebola monitoring London protocols are being applied.

The UK Health Security Agency confirmed the evacuation, noting that the worker had direct contact with confirmed cases. Reuters reported that the agency has activated its highest‑risk response tier.

“All necessary precautions are in place,” a spokesperson for the agency said.

While the risk to the public remains low, officials cite a ↓ 0.3% chance of secondary transmission, based on current data. The patient will remain under observation for the standard 21‑day incubation period before any further decision is made.

Health authorities continue to urge travelers returning from affected regions to seek immediate medical advice, as the DRC outbreak has claimed over 2,000 lives to date. For ongoing updates, follow AP News.
