Domino’s new CEO to steer chain after first‑quarter sales slump

Domino’s Pizza reported first‑quarter revenue ↓ 30% against forecasts, prompting the board to accelerate its succession plan. In a Monday release the company announced that Joe Jordan, currently COO and U.S. president, will assume the role of Domino’s new CEO on October 1, while incumbent chief executive Russell Weiner will shift to executive chairman.

Jordan, a 15‑year veteran, has overseen the revamp of the loyalty program, the expansion of e‑commerce tools, and the rollout of a global digital marketplace. A recent regulatory filing, cited by Reuters, lists his base salary at $925,000 with a target bonus equal to 200 % of pay.

“Joe is a proven leader whose experience spans virtually every aspect of our business,” said executive chairman David Brandon. “He embodies our culture of promoting from within and has earned the trust of franchisees worldwide.”

Industry peers are feeling the pressure too. Bloomberg notes that Pizza Hut was sold for $2.7 billion, and Papa John’s plans to shutter nearly 300 stores by 2027. Rising labor and ingredient costs, coupled with fierce competition from delivery platforms, have eroded margins across the legacy pizza segment.

Whether Jordan’s insider knowledge can reverse the trend remains to be seen, but the appointment signals Domino’s commitment to a steady hand as the market tightens.
