Anthropic has confirmed a major shift in its Claude subscription model, announcing that users will now incur additional charges to integrate third-party tools like the viral AI assistant OpenClaw. The change, effective April 4, was communicated directly to Claude subscribers and shared publicly on Hacker News. Moving forward, Claude subscription limits will no longer cover third-party harnesses—users must either pay for extra usage on a pay-as-you-go basis or rely on API keys for continued access.
