General Motors is gearing up to roll out refreshed versions of its flagship pickups for the 2027 model year. The centerpiece is the Chevrolet Silverado new UI, a stripped‑down, black‑backdrop cockpit that promises less visual clutter and sharper local‑dimming.

Chevrolet Silverado new UI and GMC Sierra new UI: minimalist redesign

The instrument cluster now offers a half‑moon speedometer paired with a configurable right‑hand pane for music, trip data or navigation. A green‑highlighted driver‑assist screen lights up when Super Cruise is active, while a dedicated off‑road mode displays differential settings and camera angles. Towing‑specific screens provide real‑time load metrics. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto remain fully functional, allowing seamless casting—something GM’s electric lineup still lacks.

“The new layout feels like a cockpit built for focus, not distraction,” a test driver told Reuters.

Early feedback suggests the black background reduces night‑time glare, and the local‑dimming tech keeps the display crisp in bright daylight. A ↑ 5% increase in user satisfaction scores was reported during the demo phase. Industry analysts at Bloomberg note that the minimalist approach could set a new benchmark for full‑size trucks.
