American missionary kidnapped in Niger released

Kevin Rideout, a U.S. missionary held since October in Niamey, is now in good health under the supervision of American officials, according to Serving in Mission International.

The hostage’s liberation follows intensive diplomatic outreach, reported by Reuters. Rideout, who endured ↑9 months of captivity, will soon reunite with his extended family.

“We are grateful for the safe return of our brother,” a senior mission official said.

U.S. State Department spokespeople declined to detail the negotiation tactics, but confirmed that the operative is receiving medical evaluation.
