Modern facilities chill processors by evaporating water, much like sweat cools skin. In 2023, cooling systems drew ↑ 66 billion L – less than 1 % of national use, yet the pace of AI‑centric builds could push demand sharply higher in drought‑prone basins.

Renewables can slash the footprint
