AI recruiting startup Dex lands ↑ $5.3m seed round

Founded by former Atomico talent adviser Paddy Lambros, Dex bills itself as the go‑to platform that pairs AI engineers with firms that need them most. Within six months of charging, the company vaulted from zero to ↑ $1.8m ARR, collecting agency fees only on successful placements.

Why investors are betting on AI talent marketplaces

The seed round, led by Bloomberg-backed funds, reflects a broader surge in capital flowing to specialist recruitment tech. Lambros spent 2½ years advising roughly 100 European startups on hiring at Atomico, one of Europe’s largest VC firms, giving him a deep network and insider view of talent shortages.

“The scarcity of qualified AI engineers is a strategic risk for any tech‑heavy company,” says a venture partner familiar with the deal.

Dex’s model—charging employers only after a hire is confirmed—mirrors the performance‑based fee structures popular in other SaaS verticals. The startup aims to expand beyond Europe, tapping into North American and Asian markets where demand for AI talent is intensifying.

Analysts note that as governments grapple with nuclear energy policy and AI regulation, companies will lean on platforms like Dex to accelerate hiring while minimizing recruitment overhead.
