Martha Stewart, the iconic lifestyle mogul, teamed up with AI engineer Kyle Rush and services veteran Yih‑Han Ma to launch Hint, an AI home management platform that flags roof leaks, expiring policies and soaring utility bills before the owner notices.

AI home management startup Hint aims to pre‑empt household failures

Hint’s onboarding is deliberately lean: users type an address, and the system harvests public records, weather feeds, soil data and air‑quality indices. Homeowners may also upload inspection reports, warranties, bills and insurance documents. The app then assembles a chronological home dossier, delivering alerts such as “water foundation before clay soil cracks in summer” or “renew insurance before deadline.”

The seed round, led by Slow Ventures, brought ↑ $10 million from a roster that includes Montauk Capital, Tusk Venture Partners and Energy Impact Partners. Hint plans a desktop and iOS launch this summer.

According to a 2025 Harvard housing study cited by Reuters, U.S. households spend ↑ $500 billion annually on renovations and repairs. A parallel Bloomberg survey found 62% of owners are more anxious about maintenance costs than a year ago.

“I own a valuable asset and I’m never sure I’m caring for it correctly,” said Kevin Colleran of Slow Ventures.

Hint differentiates itself from marketplaces like Angi by intervening before a homeowner even searches for a contractor. Competing ventures such as Honey Homes and Birdwatch rely on human handypersons; Hint bets that AI can scale advice without the expense of coordinated labor.

To preserve independence, the company promises that recommendations are blind to affiliate fees—a stance that investors scrutinized during due‑diligence.
