Iran denies talks amid Trump’s Monday claim

Tehran issued a blunt statement on Sunday, rejecting President Donald Trump’s assertion that fresh negotiations with Washington would commence on Monday. The Iranian foreign ministry said no formal dialogue has been scheduled, and any suggestion to the contrary is “pure speculation.” While dismissing the U.S. overture, officials confirmed ongoing talks with Reuters reported that Iran is negotiating with Oman to secure passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

“We are not engaged in any direct talks with the United States,” a senior spokesperson told reporters.

The Omani channel, seen as a regional mediator, could shape the strategic waterway’s traffic, a concern echoed by AP News. Analysts warn that the diplomatic gap may heighten tensions in an already volatile Gulf.
