The latest Bloomberg report confirms the OnePlus exit US Europe plan, set to materialise as early as this week, as Oppo restructures its global portfolio. OnePlus, a wholly‑owned Oppo subsidiary, will cease sales in the United States and major European markets, while sister brand Realme retreats from China. Analysts link the move to a Reuters‑cited memory‑chip shortage that has squeezed margins across the industry, a pressure amplified by the lingering effects of the pandemic. ↓ 4.3% YoY smartphone shipments in China fell in Q2, according to IDC, marking the fifth straight quarterly decline. Apple and Samsung continue to dominate, with Apple holding a record ↑ 20% global share in Q2 2026, while Samsung sits at 22% per Omdia.

OnePlus exit US Europe timeline and impact

Sources familiar with the plan say the withdrawal could extend to India by 2027, effectively ending OnePlus’s presence outside China. The brand, once celebrated for high‑end specs at a fraction of Apple’s price, has seen its market share erode, now trailing behind Motorola and Google in the United States.

Financial pressures driving the retreat

Counterpoint Research notes that Chinese manufacturers bear a heavier burden from component cost spikes, with entry‑level bill‑of‑materials rising ↓ 25% since early 2025. Oppo’s domestic ranking lags behind Huawei and Apple, and the company’s profit outlook is further clouded by ongoing geopolitical tensions.

“The decision reflects a pragmatic assessment of where sustainable growth can be achieved,” said an industry insider.

Oppo’s broader restructuring also sees Realme exiting the Chinese market, signalling a strategic pullback to protect cash flow and focus on core segments.
