Apple’s 2025 Lineup: Foldable iPhone in December, Plus Model or Air 2 in March

Barclays analyst Tim Long has dropped a bombshell on Apple’s 2025 roadmap, claiming the foldable iPhone will hit shelves in December 4 months after the standard iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max debut in September. This staggered launch mirrors 2017’s iPhone 8/8 Plus September release followed by the iPhone X in November. Long also says Apple plans to unveil three new devices in March 2025 alongside the iPhone 18 base model: a lower-end iPhone 18e and either an iPhone 18 Plus or iPhone Air 2. The possibility of an iPhone 18 Plus is particularly striking, as no other credible sources have mentioned such a device. While Apple’s Air models have historically underperformed versus Plus variants, Long’s supply chain contacts may have intel that changes the equation. Without official model-by-model sales data from Apple, industry watchers can only speculate whether reviving the Plus makes strategic sense if the Air bombed. This is the first credible mention of either scenario, so skepticism is warranted until Apple confirms its plans.
