Frozen Blueberry Recall Details

The FDA’s latest frozen blueberry recall has triggered an urgent public‑health alert after an E. coli O145 outbreak sickened ↓ 12 people across Georgia and Florida, hospitalizing ↓ 4. Investigators from the FDA and the CDC are tracing the source to a single lot of GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries (10 oz, lot 60401, best‑by Feb 9 2028) produced by Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. in Chile.

Where the product appeared

Retail distribution was confirmed in Publix stores in eight states, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, though the agency warns the product may have traveled farther.

“Consumers should discard the affected product immediately and clean any surfaces it touched,” the FDA advises.

What to do: Check freezers, discard any suspect berries, and wash utensils with hot, soapy water. If you bought the berries and cannot verify the brand, discard them as a precaution. For questions, contact Frutas y Hortalizas at Info.foodsafety@comfrut.com or 336‑899‑5612. The outbreak follows heightened vigilance after the recent pandemic‑era food‑safety reforms. For ongoing coverage, see Reuters and the CDC.
