Vice President JD Vance warned Israel Thursday that ignoring the Trump Iran deal could leave it without a major ally. In a marathon White House briefing, the VP said, “If I were in the Israeli cabinet I would not jeopardize the only powerful ally left.”

Trump Iran deal pressures Israel

The memorandum, signed after a ↓ 60 days sprint, promises to lift crude‑oil sanctions and fund a ↑ $300 billion reconstruction program for Iran, while Tehran pledges to cease missile strikes on southern Lebanon and keep the Strait of Hormuz open. Israeli officials, citing “deep concern,” argue the Lebanon clause does not bind them, and media aligned with Prime Minister Netanyahu have accused Trump envoys of selling out Israeli interests. Vance countered, noting that two‑thirds of Israel’s defense hardware is American‑made, and warned that “anyone in Israel who thinks the United States is the problem needs to wake up and smell the reality.” He condemned recent Israeli strikes in Beirut, saying many casualties were unrelated to Hezbollah. “Our goal is a regional framework that cuts Iranian support for Hezbollah and respects Lebanon’s sovereignty,” Vance told reporters. The administration says it has been in daily contact with both Israeli leaders and Gulf partners, a claim echoed by Reuters and Bloomberg. The warning comes as Washington and Jerusalem continue a fraught partnership after the joint war against Iran began four months ago.
