Iran threatens vessels in Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s military command announced on Thursday it will target any ship transiting the Strait of Hormuz after striking ↓ 2 vessels attempting to pass. The move escalates a pattern of confrontations that have already rattled global oil markets.

“We will not allow any breach of our sovereign waters,” a senior IRGC official told Reuters.

Shipping firms are scrambling to reroute cargo, fearing delays that could ripple through supply chains still recovering from the pandemic. Analysts warn that insurance premiums may spike as risk assessments tighten.

Regional allies have called for de‑escalation, while the United States reiterated its commitment to keep the waterway open, as reported by AP News. The situation remains fluid, and naval patrols are expected to increase.
