WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus appealed Sunday in eastern Congo for community cooperation to halt the Ebola outbreak DRC, stressing that containment is a collective responsibility.

Ebola outbreak DRC demands local partnership

Residents of Ituri province have staged protests against strict burial protocols, fearing cultural violations. Health officials warn that without trust, case numbers could climb, noting a recent ↓ 3% decline that may reverse. “We need your support to protect families and health workers,” Ghebreyesus told a gathered crowd.

“If communities refuse, the virus finds new pathways,” he warned.

The WHO urges transparent dialogue, rapid vaccination, and safe burial training, citing lessons from the 2014-2016 West African crisis and the ongoing pandemic. For further details, see Reuters.
